Kalo pitcher, small, squat rounded form on flat bottom with low spout and looping strap handle. Engraved "1892 June 1 = 1917" on side above base. Technically the mark is post-1917 (since it lacks the " CHICAGO / AND / NEW YORK" designation), but it is dated 1917. We've seen several Kalo items with the Chicago/New York mark dated 1918. It is entirely possible that these items were made earlier and either sold later out of inventory or sold earlier but engraved later. In any event the mark and engraving on this pitcher suggest that 1917 was a transitional year for the Shop.

 

Pitcher, small, squat rounded form on flat bottom with low spout and looping strap handle.  Engraved "1892 June 1 = 1917" on side above base.  6-5/8" W and 5-7/8" H.  Marked:  STERLING / HAND WROUGHT / AT / THE KALO SHOP / 9309.  The mark on this would suggest that the transitional HAND WROUGHT / AT / THE KALO SHOPS / CHICAGO mark had ended by June of 1917, to be replaced by the mark that would remain in use until the Shop closed in 1970.
